Building Critical Literacy Skills: Routine Research, Close Reading, and Writing

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Build 21st Century literacy skills and engage students by bringing inquiry into the ELA classroom. Rather than adding research projects, the emphasis will be on embedding routine research skills in Common Core Standards. Lesson ideas will be shared for searching, evaluating, synthesizing and communicating information while incorporating critical thinking, close reading, and writing skills. Bring your curriculum materials and plan lessons you can implement throughout the year. (This session will be geared towards grades 3rd through 8th grade.)
